Neymar Insists Philippe Coutinho Is the Player He Can 'See' Playing at Barcelona in the Future
Barcelona forward Neymar is persisting in his efforts to persuade Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho to join the Catalan club.
Coutinho signed a five-year deal with Liverpool in January, but it appears that Neymar is reluctant to give up easily. Quoted by Mundo Deportivo after speaking on international duty, he said: “I would sign him (Coutinho). He’s the player I see playing in Barcelona.”Just days before that statement, he said - via the Liverpool Echo: "A Premier League player that I would like to have in Barcelona is Coutinho. I believe Philippe Coutinho is a player that would totally fit in Barcelona.”
Coutinho has never hinted at any desire to leave Liverpool, however, despite the praise from his international teammate.
"We feel at home in this city, we feel a part of this city. It is a very important day for me, my wife and my daughter. I am happy and everyone is happy at home!” he said, having signed his new contract.“I signed a new contract and there was a message. I am happy to sign. You know the club is very ambitious, the players and the manager all are focused. Everyone believes in that. Of course we believe we can win titles under this manager – we are confident that will happen.
“Like I said before I have signed because the manager is a winner, and everyone believes in him. I believe in what he does, and everyone inside the dressing room believes he will take this team to titles – that is why I signed a new contract, and that is what we want to do.”
